The Azalea Mountain farm has been part of our family for almost 50 years, and it has created some amazingly great memories for 4 generations. This place has an abundance of stories to share!
The barn was designed and built by Richard, with the help of his father in 1974. He is the monarch and center of this beautiful estate. He has devoted his life to making this farm better and more unique than anything else around.
The pond was established to feed the grassy fields and apple orchards and continues to sufficiently provide for our new crops of apples and hay each year. Because of the ingenuity and brilliance of Richard, it also serves as an outlet for the hydro-electric turbine pump that produces the electricity for the farm.
The goldfish that reside in the pond are descendants to those placed there by Tim as a gift to Patti (Richard’s daughter) when they first fell in love as teenagers. We can’t help but smile each time we see new goldfish come to the surface to feed.
The apple orchard boasts 100-year-old trees and provide a wealth of family stories each year we harvest. Richard’s grandson’s (Tim and Patti’s grown children) still talk of “the year of the great Pear War”. We have added some more fruit trees to the old orchard area and are excited to hopefully share and continue our harvest traditions with the next generation.
Our family feels blessed to have so many good stories to tell about the making of Azalea Mountain Venue. We hope that we’ve created a great place for others to share beautiful experiences as well. We look forward to providing a place for loving beginnings, beautiful memories, and great stories.
